NHS Health Checks

The NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40-74. It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. If you’re in the 40-74 age group without a pre-existing condition, you can expect to receive a letter inviting you for a free NHS Health Check every five years. This clinic is run by the practice nurses.

Well Baby

Well Baby Clinic is run by the health visitors at the local health centre. This clinic undertakes child health surveillance (development), immunisations and offers advice on problems not related to illness such as sleeping, feeding and toilet training. Please do not take ill children to the clinic.
Development checks are done at 6-8 weeks of age.

Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations

If you need vaccinations for a foreign holiday please book an appointment with a practice nurse. Please fill out a travel form which is available on this site or collect a travel form at the surgery before your appointment.

Comprehensive confidential advice is available during normal surgery times. We offer oral contraceptives and injectable contraception. For implants and coils please check the website
Emergency contraception is available either as a tablet. Confidential advice is given to all patients irrespective of age.

Cervical Smears

All women and people with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64 should go for regular cervical screening. You’ll get a letter in the post inviting you to make an appointment. This is undertaken by the practice nurses.

Domestic Violence and Abuse (IRIS)

This service is aimed at women who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse from a current partner, ex-partner or adult family member. IRIS also provides information and signposting for male victims. Please ask at reception or speak to a nurse or doctor for further information

Health Checks for those with a Learning Disability

The practice undertakes annual health checks for adults and young people aged 14 or over with a learning disability. An annual health check helps you stay well by talking about your health and finding any problems early, so you get the right care. You do not have to be ill to have a health check – in fact, most people have their annual health check when they’re feeling well.

Flu And Pneumonia Vaccinations

In accordance with Department of Health guidelines, we recommend an influenza vaccine for patients aged 65 years and over, patients with chronic heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and rest homes. The vaccination is available in October onwards. Pneumonia vaccine is recommended as determined by national guidelines, and those with chronic illnesses as listed above. Please ask at reception.

(Does not dispense prescriptions)
To assist us with evidence-based prescribing, Birmingham and Solihull CCG employs a pharmacist who is based at the site one day every 2 weeks
